Oh, they're real.
I keep kosher though and they are classically milk/meat mixed, so not an option for me.
I feel like another NJ thing could just be food made by immigrants - Central NJ probably has more dosa places than anywhere else in the USA.

We lived in MD for a while and sometimes my wife and son would visit the grandparents in NJ when I had to stay home for work.
They would ALWAYS come home to an absolute mess - I just couldn't self regulate in the apartment without them around. It's a running joke between my wife and me.

Also, the servers there seem to generally be happy and a LOT of them have been there for years. It tells me that the owners/managers treat them alright.

I don't eat any of the meat dishes but I'm always happy with what I get and with the price at the Edison Diner.
I went there yesterday for a late breakfast/early lunch and it was pretty busy for midday on a weekday. I've definitely driven past a full parking lot there on Sundays.

That having been said, my own autism means that I have a much higher tolerance level for things that really get to others. You are probably healthier than I am on this!

Part of it is that anti[insert group] rhetoric tends to go up after big news events. I suspect it will slow down a bit with the new year.
