Note how the eagle is holding the capuchin so it's aligned the same way as the bird's body. This helps the load be more aerodynamic. (I usually see osprey doing it with fish, making the hydrodynamic aerodynamic, but I think the concept still applies.)

They also have really lousy eyesight, so the long frondy bits on the front are how they feel their way around.

I also like the other name, whipscorpion, as it's reasonably descriptive. I used to care for some at a previous job. Pretty chill little guys. My favorite was to watch them dig a burrow: pick up some dirt in their claws, back out of the hole to drop, and back in. Honestly v cute.
