For those of you who read on Substack, what are some of your favorites there? I just started exploring it this week in preparation for getting back into article-writing.

I wrote my friend's dog a haiku when I stopped by this weekend. 😁

Coffee is good and all, but I'm a "books and tea" person. This blueberry green tea has been my go-to this summer, and I'm sipping it now to chase away the tail end of a migraine and get back to work. Tea friends, what's your favorite bagged tea? Sometimes I'm feeling too lazy for loose-leaf.

This illustration is perfect and made me smile.
jetted out ----> jutted out

Unless the thing is moving very fast (i.e., "The cat jetted out from behind the couch."), the word you want is 'jutted' (i.e., "The cat's tail jutted out from behind the couch.")

When it's hot and humid, I'm thankful that book editing lets me work from home! I just about melted from running to the farmer's market, where the vendors often have multiple outdoor markets a day. I'm also thankful for the work they do to provide fresh, local produce.

As a writer, I use them all the time. As an editor, I'm okay with them as well as they're being used correctly, which is... not always, haha. But I'm happy to help people learn to punctuate their writing in whatever way best gets the flow of what's in their head onto the page!
Happy Monday! I can't remember on which social and with whom I was having the "em dashers" assemble moment, but I saw this on FB and wanted to share/have a laugh.

(I appreciate that Lord of the Rings images were used for that convo and this meme by _ADWills.)

Told a relative yesterday that I had read a novel they had left sitting out when I dogsat for them recently.
"Did you like it?"
"I loved the setting, and it was fun, but I felt like the story could have been stronger... but maybe that was editor-brain."
Editor friends, does this happen to you too?

This is my obligatory "I don't know what I'm doing on this app yet, so excuse me if my posts are awkward and I don't follow many people at first" post. 🙃

Photo proof: here are the succulents I haven't killed! Yes, I'm about to repot the one in the round pot, and yes, I know it needs fertilizer (it gets enough sun but still lost its color).
