Hey, want to learn about some weird music? Music 122: Music History II at ELAC this spring covers the beautiful, the strange, and the mind-blowing in music, 1750-present. And you get GE credit!
Have you ever wondered where the music you love came from? Take Music 122 this spring. In this class, we will find out how today's music came about by tracing the story of Western classical music through recent centuries. Our story begins in 1850 on the cusp of the Age of Revolution, carries through the Industrial Revolution, the upheavals of the 20th century, and the bizarre situation we live in now, all told through music that's beautiful, thought-provoking, and sometimes downright weird. Music History & Literature I: Music 121, Tuesdays & Thursdays 1:45-3:10 PM, S2-213. Have you ever wondered where the music you love came from? In this class and its spring-semester partner, Music 122, we will find out how today's music came about by tracing the story of Western classical music throughout the centuries. This semester, our story begins in Ancient Greece, carries through the Roman Empire and the Middle Ages, into the European Renaissance, and finally into the Age of Enlightenment. In the spring, Music 122 will carry us from 1800 to the present. It's a magnificent 1,500-year journey through history, as told by music!
