Studies ancient history. Plays guitar. Rambles. He/They
This is underselling it. Preaching the choir maybe, but the fact that this administration and good portion of their supporters are willing to suspend due process in the pursuit of the expulsion of an “undesirable” population…

Alarm bells doesn’t begin to cover it.

Being offered the aux. Carefully considering your audience, mood, setting. Making a precise and intentional selection of songs.

Getting no reaction from anyone.

For the sake of art, we should have called a general boycott of remakes, reboots, and franchises a few years ago.

No, I don’t care if the character meant a lot to you as a kid. Them being brought back is bad for the future of human culture.

This take requires more nuance. We’ll see if it gets it.

That feeling when you’ve had a lovely evening but fumble one social interaction in a minor way at the very end, so now you must deem yourself a comprehensive failure as a person.

Folks are glazing Sinners online hard, and I can’t tell if it’s sincere or to what extent it’s a meme at this point.

Guys, gals, and NB pals…I’ve done it.

I’m out of touch.

Dude wrote some of the foundational texts for what would become TT games, and got into fights with Chesterton about “the spirit of play”. Wells hated playing with kids because they couldn’t follow how strict of rules his games had.

Still one of the greatest displays of phrasing by a guitar player. Santana has chops, but man do his melodies have wonderful nuances and surprises to them.
“Black Magic Woman” by Santana was a US #4 hit in 1971. #santana #classicrock #EveryHitSongEver ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

This is a good example of one of the key questions every person should ask about politics: do you agree with their rhetoric or their actions, and do you have enough analytical ability to tell the difference?

This goes for any party, any politician.

Good tip for students: if you’re struggling with a difficult article or author, look up a summary of their ideas and arguments. Then go back and read the original, now that you understand the basics and can engage with the details.

If you want to do well, the second step is not optional, sadly.

The wild trend in a lot of Trump policies has been their loud and sudden implementation, followed by a less shouted about back peddling.

Turns out that trying to force bad ideas quickly reveals that they are in fact bad.

Main concern is the long term impact of this from what still sticks around.

What art helped you through a hard time?

Reading the Guards series by Pratchett and playing Disco Elysium helped me get sober last year.

Shout yours out! Looking for good recs.

Is it too early to jokingly insinuate Vance was the direct cause of the Pope’s death, or would that be disrespectful? To Francis, of course.

America really telling on itself when it’s a non-criminal family man or American citizens who are threatened to have their human rights ignored that we start declaring that “fascism is here”, “NOW it’s an emergency.”

Y’all, it’s been here. The line we let them draw is just being moved.

Funny thing with substances. Every time I take my ADHD meds after a hiatus I think, "Wow! I forgot how much easier this makes life!"

After every relapse I think, "Wow! I forgot how much worse this makes life!"

Now I just need to figure out how to remember this often reinforced lesson.

Anytime someone with power does something ridiculous, always ask: “who benefits?”

Like, we’re all suffering. But who just got their pockets lined?

Six months ago, a combination of Terry Pratchett, Disco Elysium, AA, good friends, and familial support got me sober.

I still am because I continue to surround myself with the goodness I am privileged enough to have access to.

I think about that anytime someone vilifies addicts or poor folks.

Spoilers for an old game, but I've been replaying Batman: Arkham city, and the initial narrative climax of the game is something ominously called "Protocol 10" by the game's antagonist, Hugo Strange.

It turns out Protocol 10 is the systematic killing of all prisoners in Arkham city (1/?)...

I remember first playing Arkham City and being wowed by the feeling of exploring an entire city as Batman. Really felt amazing to move through that much space and have that much to do.

But now, I’ve hit the point with open world games that when they reveal the size of the word…I just feel tired.

Recent numbers show the radical right wing turn of young men in the past couple of years.

I think we can blame the status quo sucking, but more so right wing messaging proliferating promising a desirable alternative: the (re)establishment of institutionally-back social hierarchy….(1/?)
