I’ve been self hosting LLM stuff with Open WebUI currently, Ollama in a VXC to use the GPU in my lab and a tool server. You’ll need to do some middleware setup but it’s a start.

We wouldn’t need to boil lakes and have soaring energy prices due to data centers if ML wasn’t being marketed to normies as chat bots and meme generators. ML should have stayed in the scientific and engineering circles as a tool.

Most of the problem we are having with LLM adoption currently is that it isn’t an organic technology that has come of a need to solve a real issue. Techbros are selling LLMs as something they aren’t while ML has been a part of software for years in places like OCR or search engines. It’s hype4fiat.

And so how does anyone get power from solar and wind for example when they aren’t actively producing? (At night, no wind, high winds, cloudy conditions, panel maintenance, etc etc) how would your battery-less system absorb power fluctuations/demand spikes while on and off peak?

Batteries require replacement after so long…which leads to more heavy metals and rare earth metal extraction just to store the energy. Hydrogen is easily obtained, it might not be efficient but it could offset the real cost of batteries. I’m interested to see how it all works out after a few years.
