Still as Canadian 🍁 as possible

Was wondering how many still strive, since DJT's threats to Canada first began, to avoid buying US, incl. food.
Dinner tonight was @ 90% Cdn w. a bit of Mexican carrots & also raspberries in dessert. The cookies are local even tho' called "Mexican wedding cookies."

I'm puzzled as to why almost half a million signatures from Alberta voters in favor of remaining within Canada and opposed to a separation referendum isn't even being mentioned in current reporting on a pro separation referendum petition. Squeaky wheel bias?

`SUPER FLU' EXPLAINED
VancSun,23Dec2025,Sharon Kirkey
I was sick a few weeks ago with COVID vs. flu & I've now resumed wearing masks on public transit. I had both vaccines in October & that likely helped me with the severity & speed of recovery but I missed critical family events because of this.

I saw another pink December rose in bloom today, reminding me of ‘The Christmas Rose’ & carols with that metaphor for the baby Jesus. I haven’t been religious for a long time but still love carols, including ones with that theme from high school choir.

Maybe there are good reasons why the release of the Epstein files last week seemed like such a mess. But the Trump administration’s decision to turn the Justice Department into a political weapon means officials won’t get the benefit of the doubt.

A RED/BLUE ROSE
I think I get the dream I had last night. I was a reporter following a story involving roses. When I tried to photograph a bright red rose in a bouquet of blue ones, suddenly there were only blue roses. Then I saw that one large rose kept strangely flipping between red and blue.

‘60 Minutes’ Pulled a Segment. A Correspondent Calls It ‘Political.’
“Our story was screened 5 times & cleared by both CBS attorneys & Standards & Practices...“It is factually correct. In my view, pulling it now... is not an editorial decision, it is a political one.”

This governing clique could only hope to convince others of good intentions behind their brand of belief IF they weren't avidly, widely practicing cruelty, elitism & the opposite of Christian love. In the context of that the rewriting of history that HCR's post details reeks of pretext & sanctimony.

Yesterday's concert of Cantata Singers at Holy Rosary Cathedral was inspiring, as always. I was not the only one dabbing their eyes during Franz Biebl's Ave Maria, their traditional closing with the choir ranged throughout the aisles, surrounding us with angelic sound.

Would have been surprising to me if this administration had complied with the Act as set out, on time. Dragged kicking and screaming is about what I'd expect from these gals 'n guys and who, exactly, is in a position to drag them anywhere respectful of the law they still think they are above?

Years ago I photoshopped this collage of Trump as Hunger Games President Stone. With announcement of Patriot Games with female/male reps. from each state it's time to reshare this creepy kisser. I never saw the film, read the book. President Stone's rose to cover up a carrion smell feels current.

Seeking another photo on our computer I found a very blurry photo, right, of Gord @whisperingslim.bsky.social from 2009 on Granville Street here in Vancouver, BC. The AI photo editor I subscribe to did a bad job of face unblur, making him unrecognizable but then 'artguru' site did a good job.

Trump et al lawbreaking "...The Epstein grand jury documents are simply 119 blacked-out pages. Republican representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who co-sponsored the Epstein Files Transparency Act, said the document release “grossly fails to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law.”

THE HUMAN TOUCH STILL HAS TECH BEAT
We recently went through the work of an address change dictated by the post office & found today my online financial institution change failed despite getting confirmation; G's was OK. A live phone rep just sorted all this, next time I'll go with the human route.

Still feeling a yen for distraction after recent events, personal and global. I asked G. how he liked my digital cottage interior decorating. "Great...when are we moving in?"

SAD DEATH FROM FALLEN TREE
Like elsewhere, Vancouver & BC seeing impact of extreme weather due to climate change. Last night's wind, too was wild. Rain-soaked soil + big wind brings down trees & power lines.

Photos are of trees down in Vancouver in 2001, 2015 and 2016, #2 & 4 at Kitsilano Beach.

Jacquie Lawson advent calendar
For years since a friend first gifted one of these digital advent calendars I've had them & enjoyed esp. decorating widgets/puzzles. Tonight while grieving a recent family member's loss I indulged in a late download & formed a bouquet. She loved flowers esp. amaryllis.

PLATFORMS PUSHING PASSKEYS

Both Gord & I have had diff. web platforms pushing a switch to "passkeys" w. fingerprints, our faces, device PIN etc. vs. password to verify ID. Do not seem to recognize we share a desktop computer w diff. interface than portable devices. Opt in could block desktop login.

FIDDLY PLASTIC BITS
G. & I spent lotta time trying to remount the motion sensor light in our garage after a battery change (no power in there & unit lights glaring at us while feeling out position.)
Then found the accessory hose mount of our vacuum cleaner lost a tiny plastic tab so now taped on.

FACEBOOK AI NEW ANTI-ACCOUNT MOVE?
Last night my husband got this msg. from Meta when he tried to like, comment etc. on anyone's posts. He can only post/comment on his own posts. ?For how long?
Less severe than the millions of AI suspensions, about which there have been some negative news stories.

Seeing a post with a nice shared image (the second) I found lots of versions thru Google image search, including a higher res. version from FB whose colour I tweaked.

Everyone's tastes are different. I generally prefer colours that seem natural.
