One week post op and the snow dragged me outside. Ok maybe not dragged. I was quite excited! We’re very lucky to have nice fields near the house. #snow

Ada patted the spear’s shaft and swayed a little, letting her eyelids droop. “Can’t a man take a piss in peace?” Someone dropped from the wall beside her. “I didn’t realise women relieved themselves against walls in Asorea.” It was Tamir, who moved to stand beside the spearman. She grew irritable thanks to new ideas keeping her awake, and the one morning she slept in, she snapped at Fawziyya for drawing the curtains. “I’m sorry,” Ada said. “I’m getting nowhere with this ethelid.” It was always in her hand now, a thorn she couldn’t drop. “Did you walk the moment you took your first step?” Ada pinched the bridge of her nose. “It’s too early for metaphors.” Everyone was there, including Tamir and some servants. Quinn cowered behind Sam and stared wide-eyed at a group of saddled horses. “I thought noble ladies loved horses,” Ada said as she joined them. Quinn’s glare could have cut her. “One of those beasts almost bit off my finger when I was a girl.” Quinn held up her hand and pointed at her index finger. If there was a scar, Ada couldn’t see it. To rub Quinn’s fear in her face, Ada went to the largest horse, a black stallion, and scratched his shoulder. Shukri barged between them. “Shadow is my horse.” Ada backed away a few steps. “I thought a prince would know more impressive names.” “What would you know of princes beyond how to kill them?” “What was that about?” Clara said, yawning as she stepped up beside Ada. “Sam decided to cook.” “Why?” “I’m not sure. Love? Madness?” Volker came out of the men’s tent. “Is there any difference?”

Went to Bushy Park in London today and there’s a cafe a short way in that jackdaws appear to have made their buffet. About 20 of them vs 5 pigeons.

One pigeon was smart though. It went inside for its crumbs.

Oh, and a white stag graced us with its presence! 😍😍😍 Couldn’t get a good photo though.

Bit of a longer #WIPSnips today, but this one needed some context. Plus a bonus paragraph because I love it. This is from the first chapter of my next book, Echoes of Chaos.

Despite Origin Tower’s unnatural presence in the skyline of Arlis, many kitari called it beautiful. Yet all Eryn saw was a place from which the council of elders could stare down at those beneath them. The closer Eryn came to the tower, the harder she clenched her fists to keep her temper in check. By the time she reached the edge of the Great Pit that surrounded the tower, her nails dug into her palms. As a young girl, the tower and pit had fascinated her. How much skill and dedication had it taken the first elders to magic stone straight from the ground to form the tower’s framework? All magic had enchanted her back then, before the elders decided to ruin her life for the first time. Muttering a few choice words under her breath, Eryn continued onto the road that wound down into the Great Pit. She kept her gaze on the flower-laden gardens that lined the walls of the pit, determined not to give any more of her focus to the tower where the elders dwelt. They deserved her hate, but they didn’t deserve her time or energy beyond the letters of demand she wrote. She penned a new one every time nightmares dragged her from sleep. Elder Treeborn was rather fed up with them, so he told her, often.
