Me apologetically dnf-ing a current read because it’s not this book’s fault that the last book i read was a KJ Charles book and the only thing that can compare is another KJ Charles book

My copy of the 1818 text of Frankenstein before narrowing down what I can use for my essay and novella

another essay idea: synthesizing Victorian-era Floriography with Dante’s nine circles of hell
October 12, 2025 at 6:22 PM
I’ve been wanting to write essays for fun and I think I have two ideas currently forming, the page to screen adaptation of Maurice, and an overview of my observations of queerness in the 1818 Frankenstein. Approaching academia with no set perimeters is exciting

How anyone could read Frankenstein and not come to the conclusion that at the least Victor was in love with both Henry and Elizabeth is crazy to me

Victor Frankenstein really dropped the “the fiend said ‘I’ll be with you on your wedding night’ and then murdered Clerval immediately after” sir I know what you are

best sentence I’ve read today: “Imagine a man asking another man to play him some of Mendelssohn's Lieder on a violin!” Absolutely fantastic.

As someone who sells books I can’t put into words my silent horror when the person I sold Wuthering Heights to said they were buying it because the new movie trailer looks smutty
October 4, 2025 at 12:32 AM
I read Wuthering Heights when I was very young and the social implications were lost on me at the time, but I am barely 50 pages into my reread and it is unbelievably astounding that a white actor would ever be cast as Heathcliff no matter how faithful or not the adaptation claimed to be

First step in falling in love with academia again is treating all my current reads as something I am studying, without the pressure of a test or essay. I’ve got copies of Wuthering Heights, Frankenstein, Maurice, and All of Us Murderers on my desk covered in underlines and sticky notes, it’s great
