I think Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie lost all confidence when Dead Reckoning underperformed and just sort of threw their hands up. I guess audiences don't like...action? Or our villain? Uh...maybe we need more flashbacks?

I've liked the majority of new trek, and will happily defend Discovery, but Section 31 did not work for me.
I assume the idea was to bring in new fans who like superhero movies, because it's very "suicide squad." The first one, unfortunately.
