No collapse to be seen here — just a small bump in the road 😉

Unfortunately, the brand-level figures from New Automotive differ slightly from the SMMT data, so it’s not possible to merge the two sources directly.

I’m working on additional BEV sales charts by brand based solely on New Automotive’s data and will share them once they’re ready.

Yeah, that’s the additional data source I’m looking into to get detailed BEV sales figures. They also provide a second sunburst chart with inner and outer layers swapped — that one includes some BEV sales not visible in the first. Combining both gives the most complete BEV sales by brand.

But not for Chinese BEVs (yet) if you are interested in that

Here’s an update on Tesla’s September new registrations in Europe by country. The chart below highlights the 16 main European markets.

How are Tesla’s sales shaping up in Europe in September 2025?

Here’s a chart showing September registrations alongside the total from the first eight months of the year.

Note: Data for Germany, Portugal, and Greece is not yet available.

That, more than the vehicle itself, seems to be the main obstacle to higher sales.

So, would you agree that Tesla isn’t going bankrupt anytime soon? 3/3
electric-nick.bsky.social
In my opinion, the biggest issue is the price. It was originally meant to start at $40k, yet for a long time, the entry version cost $100k+. The recently introduced $70k variant is still nearly double the promised base price. 2/

I try to provide a broader perspective based on facts. At this stage, it’s fair to view the Cybertruck as a commercial disappointment when comparing sales to preorders or stated capacity. 1/
electric-nick.bsky.social
That said, you’re right — the sales drop is disappointing. Losing around 100,000 units compared to two years ago isn’t great.

In the long run, though, focusing solely on BEVs will be an advantage.

When was Tesla’s market share in Europe ever 3.8%? According to ACEA data (covering EU + EFTA + UK), the highest quarterly share was 3.1% in Q4 2022, followed by 3.0% in Q4 2023.

With that in mind, the current trailing 3-month share of 1.88% doesn’t look quite as bad.

Besides, if the Cybertruck is considered a failure, what does that make the F-150 Lightning or Hummer EV?

Lastly, I’d like to ask — do you genuinely believe Tesla is failing, as in heading toward bankruptcy? If so, you might be in for a surprise if that doesn’t happen.
