Depends on the game, the status effects, and the means to apply them. FF2, almost everything is open to Frog. FF8, vit0 resistance doesn't exist. FF6, exactly what you describe, especially relative to your ability to just deal damage and win.

Marvin ain't a maybe. It's the best card in the deck. The rule of law guys are also stellar for slowing down everyone else while leaving your activated abilities alone.
