TOMORROW: I’m going live with @repjuliejohnson.bsky.social on Instagram to discuss the Republican government shutdown and what our offices are doing to serve our constituents. We’ll be going live at 1:45 PM ET @RepSarahElfreth on Instagram. Don’t miss it!

We will continue to stand strong against threats from this President against our civil servants and for the health care of millions of Americans.

Today, Team Maryland was at the BWI Airport to make one thing clear: shutdowns don't fly. The Republican shutdown means our TSA agents and air traffic controllers are working without pay.

It’s clear: a majority of Americans want Congress to renew the ACA tax credits. These tax credits make health care more affordable for all Americans, not just those on ACA – in Maryland alone, ALL Marylanders are projected to see a 13% increase in their premiums if we do not extend these credits.

This Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I’m so grateful to join and thank our local partners who are committed to modernizing our systems and providing resources to combat domestic violence across Maryland.

Thank you to Sheriff Sesker, the Anne Arundel County Sheriff’s Department, and AAMC for organizing the third annual Purple Lights Night to raise awareness and honor the survivors of domestic violence.

💜 Since 1998, Anne Arundel Medical Center has been home to one of the first domestic violence programs in Maryland, ensuring every patient had access to life-saving healthcare AND trained advocates and intervention services.

This government shutdown gives the President NO new authority to fire, withhold pay, or otherwise attack federal workers. Since day one of this Administration, I have stood with our hardworking civil servants – that won’t change during this shutdown.
Scoop: White House memo says furloughed federal workers aren't entitled to backpay
A move to deny backpay to up to 750,000 furloughed workers would dramatically escalate Trump's pressure on Democrats to end the shutdown.

Let’s be clear: furloughed federal employees WILL receive back pay after a shutdown. Thanks to the leadership of Maryland Senator Ben Cardin, Congress passed a bill to ensure back pay for furloughed employees. President Trump then signed this bill into law & furloughed employees received back pay.

I joined @hocoexecball to share all the ways we are supporting Howard County families during the shutdown, including alternative payment schedules for county programs & additional health & human services assistance. Thank you Dr. Ball & Howard County for your fast & creative response to this moment.

We’re now almost a week into the government shutdown, and for as long as we need to, the Maryland federal, state, and local delegation will continue doing everything we can to support our communities – especially our federal workers.

Today marks two years since the people of Israel experienced the worst terror attack in their nation's history. Having sat with and mourned with the families of hostages, I have seen firsthand the civilian cost of this war. Please see below for my full statement on this heartbreaking anniversary.

As the President continues to threaten federal workers, #TeamMaryland is fighting for our civil servants. Whether that’s answering every call & email from constituents or providing the most updated information whenever possible, the Maryland delegation stands united in the fight for all Marylanders.

My Maryland Delegation colleagues and I are standing together against the politicization of our civil servants and millions of Americans’ health care by this Administration – people's lives and livelihoods should never be used as political pawns.

Maryland is home to more than 140,000 federal employees, hundreds of whom we’ve each heard from who are acutely feeling the effects of this shutdown.

The federal government may be shut down, but my Columbia and Washington offices are still open and working to support constituents, just as we always have.

I joined @govwesmoore.bsky.social and other members of the state and federal Maryland Delegation to reaffirm our fight for the 190,000 Marylanders who need lower premiums to afford health care and to share how our offices can continue to support our civil servants during these uncertain times.

Supporting you during this shutdown means not only constantly communicating with folks on the ground, but working with elected leaders across the State of Maryland, local governments, and my colleagues in Congress to provide our constituents with the best information and resources.
