It feels to me like the LangChain Core classes in particular are in a bad place.

They abstracted too early, and different model providers have since diverged in key areas, such that the abstraction requires a lot of provider-specific configuration to accommodate them.

When I started my AI research, I was focused on code generation. After a while, I could see that even the most challenging approach - building a general software engineering agent - is a solved problem, theoretically.

After my experiments with code generation, graph traversal for outside-in prompting, and combined development time and runtime, I was really taken with graph traversal.

I’m lucky to have been able to throw myself headfirst into AI since leaving SadaPay, but almost everybody I know in-industry is still building traditional software. There’s a *lot* happening.
