It really is a nice theory. The only defect I think it has is probably common to all philosophical theories. It's wrong. - Saul Kripke
And for a while, I did believe that the idea that they would cause people to actually *try* to influence real world events was ridiculous and overstated, but lo and behold.

I did actually update positively on their value when they correctly predicted a Trump victory. But after this and the Cremiuex thing, it's becoming obvious that they do create harmful and potentially dangerous incentives.

I wonder how much of their decline was due to the RFK senate investigations + decline of organized Labour. Though I’m hardly an expert here.

I see something like this and immediately go “what did Mr. Brennan do?”

I do wonder if there will be any actual political effect of the fact that half the teenagers in America are viewing stuff like this daily.

Guess we just have to find out.

December 9, 2025 at 3:13 PM
Peterson is also a bad postmodernist writer in spirit for egregiously misusing concepts like Godel's theorem.
December 9, 2025 at 3:11 PM
William Gillis pointed out that, despite hinging his entire career on hating postmodernists, Jordan Peterson is essentially on the side of the scientific antirealists for aligning with Jung. And the antirealist strain of postmodernism was the type that Sokal et al were arguing against.

Say what you will about rationalistspeak, it's not even ten percent as bad as postrationalistspeak.

What's the epistemic status of this post?
December 8, 2025 at 5:58 PM
I'm guessing the latter based on how shoulder is used.
December 8, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Did we ever get an answer to whether "shoulder of Orion" meant in the Orion cluster or "in the sky near the Orion constellation?"

Vučić literally started crying when the UN established a Srebrenica memorial day.
