It is nearly New Year, a wonderful time for oenophiles. All of one's wines get a year closer to being ready overnight!

I had an amazing wine earlier: 2020 Peter Lauer Ayler Kupp Riesling Spätlese N°23 Auction. Such intensity, such power, and yet light as a feather, incredibly energetic and supremely elegant. Transcendental Riesling. Being alive is better than the alternative!

Actually that Vernay was so good I wanted to experience it fully.

Gabrielius Landsbergis, Former Foreign Minister of Lithuania, said it plainly:

"Putin never escalates when we help Ukraine. He escalates when we don't help enough."

This isn't philosophy. It's a pattern. Weakness invites aggression. Support raises the cost. 👇

English Sparkling Wine can be seriously good. I admit it is a bit enthusiastically priced, but it's the real stuff. It would never have even began to occur to younger Davy that his dream of living in a fine wine region would comes true because he'd move to Hampshire!

This is unnecessary nastiness, what shits the Russians often are.
The enemy has once again demonstrated that the word "humanity" is unknown to them. According to reports, the occupiers attached a live mouse to an FPV drone. This is not a "war tactic," but outright cruelty and degradation that degrades life and goes beyond any👇

Ridgeview Blanc des Blancs 2018 is a seriously good wine, and it is priced like one. It has a reputation as the ESW most capable to ageing, and it certainly will (we will see for how long!). I know it is what in the bottle that matters, but the label and bottle dress are hideous! Must try harder!

Chablis 1er Cru Vaulorent 2016 from Fevre tomorrow, with other Burgundy I think is being served blind. I am woefully out of practise blind tasting Burgundy, but it is still fun!

Tonight's wine, a pure Listán Negro. It will either be delicate and heavenly scented, or pongy due to a lack of Yeast Available Nitrates during fermentation. Let us hope it is the former; if it is I might write it up.

I think my little cat Hector is quite a looker. Here he is not respecting one's personal space as one eats lunch.
