Well…I didn’t actually know. I guessed it was something to do with digestion but that was it. So I looked it up! It appears that bivalves have a ‘rod’ that can rotate the contents of the stomach and release enzymes to aid digestion! Any experts, feel free to weigh in!

Very similar! Nature is amazing!

This little müller’s larva (a Platyhelminthes) is stuck in a copepod moult! I wonder if it’s dizzy? Sound on!

So I sliced and sautéed the mushrooms in butter and a bit of oil, with garlic and pepper. Juice of a lemon, a handful of spinach and a splash of cream. Served on toasted bread. ‘Twas delicious!

I've just been asked by Peckham @womensinstitute.bsky.social to do a talk on household folklore next year! If there are any other WIs that fancy chatting about cold remedies, how to clean the silver with potatoes or what your jam says about you, please let me know! 🌿 #HouseholdLore #Folklore

Thanks so much, but I have an ID. It’s a trematode cercaria larva, fresh from its host, a mollusc!

Yesterday, at the Iceni Microscopy Group, we explored mitosis. I got to prepare slides and managed to photograph a few of the stages!

I’ve just realised how badly I’ve been neglecting BlueSky and how poorly I’ve been using it. I’m going to try and rectify this. Starting now… ish

Most movies I watch are rewatches. Comfort in the familiar I think!
