Thank you to my editor Lucy Twist for the opportunity. It has brought me so much joy. Little Myths Chang'e will be out on 13th Aug 2026 and preorders are open!
Links are in my bio.

My 5 year old was the perfect beta reader! Picture book writing is such a different experience as I had to wait to see how the artist interpreted the brief, but my goodness was it worth it! Yingzhu Xue delivered! The illustrations are beautiful and feisty, just as I had hoped.

I loved learning to write for a completely different age group, especially as I used to stare at the pictures of Chang'e that graced many a moon cake tin. It was an interesting experience to think about which version of the myth I wanted to follow, & layout /word choice.

I am delighted to announce my first picture book will be published in 2026 by Hachette Children's as part of their Little Myths series. Please enjoy my take on the Moon Goddess Chang'e herself, with beautiful illustrations by Yingzhu Xue
Cover of Little Myths Chang'e shows the Chinese moon goddess with a rabbit and the moon behind her in cute cartoon style with a speech bubble saying "How I became the goddess of the moon!" Art depicts a sleeping moon rabbit decorated with red and green patterns, as big as the curvature of the moon, with a small Chang'e resting between the rabbit's front and hind paws.

Currently at:
— only buy tech too old to have AI built in
— painstakingly disable AI every time they add it to something that used to work perfectly well
— if it can't be switched off, abandon the platform or tool
— if there are no good alternatives, avoid the AI parts
— patiently wait for the crash

The official database of works eligible for the Anthropic AI settlement has been released and, as I suspected, many authors are screwed. Basically, if your books weren't officially registered with the US Copyright Office you're out of luck. 1/ secure.anthropiccopyrightsettlement.com/lookup/results
Welcome to the Anthropic Copyright Settlement Website
Are you the legal or beneficial copyright owner of a book included in the Anthropic Copyright Settlement?
You could get a payment from the $1.5 billion Settlement.

Hmmm... good question. I suspect humans flesh, but in the scene no-one thought to see if an apple would suffice, so I leave that to your imagination!

somehow completely missed TIDEBORN, the sequel to FATHOMFOLK by @elizachanwrites.bsky.social and was quite put out. not anymore, as I had it for last night's bedtime story and it was everything I wanted and more

(okay maybe I want more because the world's so great, but I would also like a pony)
elizachanwrites.bsky.social
I'm sorry I couldn't get you a pony but very glad to hear you enjoyed the book! ❤️

The next series has demon horses if that helps/hinders?!

General submission open on Monday 22 September. We are looking for speculative fiction 5000 words and under. Our remit is very broadly fun, but don't self-reject - a truly superb story offers an enjoyment of it's own.

Our story submission portal for writers of color is open. Please read the guidelines, as that makes things easier for everyone! Looking forward to seeing your stories. translunartravelerslounge.com/submissions/

I totally missed that GBBO was back. Huzzah. Let me indulge in a version of Britain where everyone is welcome no matter the age, gender, sexuality, race or country of birth. Where people try their best, help each other and eat delicious cakes.

This crazy sci fi noir crime thriller is out today in the UK and I can't wait for you all to read it!

Available in hardback, ebook, and audio from all reputable retailers (and probably some disreputable ones too!)

If you can, support your local indie!

Now getting explicit ads for ChatGPT and nothing makes me want to go off grid more than the soulless, scraped BS of genAI.

Cathartic is a great word for it! The act of writing them was definitely cathartic for me. Something about having to articulate all of these feelings, good and bad. And I'm so happy Mira worked for you. ♥️
