I can barely be arsed at this point. Profile to come? I just miss my people from the smoking, bird-shaped crater who didn't move over to Mastodon.

elizarde/k2cuss2/EElliottKnits, in case you're wondering who the latest weirdo who followed you is.
Though I do hear that they have yarn there. so we'll see how long the project monogamy lasts.

Thank you! I'm sure I'll bore everyone to sobs with photos.

So glad I'm staying with my friend, too: the first 3 days will be recovering from the trip by doing absolutely nothing but sleeping and hanging out with her sheep. And probably taking photos. Mostly of the sheep.

Kind of proud that I'm only bringing one knitting project--using stash yarn!--though of course it's a summer pullover that I designed for the trip. Because there wasn't enough to do to get ready, clearly.

You may. I really, really don't. I turned off autoplay today, when I realized standing in the full blast of the firehose of nightmares that my feed has become piles on despair & anxiety without fixing a damn thing. We need to know, yes. I don't need to have video of it streamed at me on repeat.
February 7, 2026 at 10:19 AM
Yeah, I've done that now, but appreciate you mentioning it.
February 7, 2026 at 10:10 AM
Yes, you can turn off autoplay. I've now done that. But good gravy, man, just...why would you do that?
February 6, 2026 at 6:51 PM
Look, I don't want to be a jerk here, but if you're posting about something horrific, and you know it (hence the trigger warning, I assume), could you please consider not attaching a video on a site that autoplays video?

Where do I sign up?

Yeah, BC's Attorney General had something to say about it (and Hootsuite), too: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
B.C.'s attorney general urges Canadian businesses to 'think about their role' in supporting ICE operations | CBC News
B.C. billionaire Jim Pattison and Vancouver-based Hootsuite are among the Canadian companies facing backlash for business ties to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Well, shit. So much heartbreak in such a short time. I'm so sorry.
February 3, 2026 at 4:56 PM
Wow! That's absolutely gorgeous. So impressive!
February 2, 2026 at 3:36 AM
What do you mean, 'pretend'?
February 2, 2026 at 3:22 AM
Yeah, he was a good one. Alas for posterity, the error was caught before it went further than the sustainability engineer & my boss.

Of course, getting stuck into this less than 2 weeks before a month-long trip is absolutely true to form. 🙄

Just the one? Admirable restraint.

Holy heck, happy birthday! Speaking from the other side of 50, do let me know how the being a real adult thing goes. I fear mine was lost in the mail.

Rain so dense you can't see across the street! Is this the day the hillside decides to move to lower ground, taking your home with it? I guess we'll find out!

We lived in a triplex set into a hill in Southside; our deal with our neighbours was: tornado, we go down. Flood, they come up.

If you can't stand drizzle, the wet coast is not the place for you, to be sure.

I really, really miss thunderstorms, though.
