This is literally ridiculous. Extending the period to 56 days was the bare minimum and still a tight turnaround. To go back on this is a complete waste of time. Increasing the number of refugees who are made street homeless is an absolute safeguarding risk in this political climate.
Government plans to halve the ‘move on period’ for Refugees, reducing it to 28 days.

28 days to find a job, get a deposit, and find somewhere to live. Thousands of street homeless refugees by the time winter hits.

Utterly disgusting. There is absolutely no way any Afghan woman should be returned to the Taliban having sought asylum, but particularly someone who has fought for human rights. It is tantamount to a death sentence.

I mean, what else did the government think was going to happen? No one would notice forking out that much money? Or it would dissuade migrants from coming here in the first place? Neither is remotely plausible.

It’s a child poverty strategy alright. A strategy to make migrant children poor.
It is zero surprise that the effect of pumping migrant families for tens of thousands in immigration fees each disadvantages those families and forces migrant children into poverty. It’s appalling.
Our new report finds that children with migrant parents are more likely than other children to not have their own bedrooms, go on school trips, have a hobby, have friends over, celebrate special occasions, and eat nutritious food.
