Victoria raised the age of criminal responsibility to 12 last week.

It’s a step forward in keeping kids out of the justice system but to truly start to fix our broken justice system we must follow the evidence and #RaiseTheAge to 14.

Dr. Jane Goodall was a tireless champion for nature.

Even here in Victoria, she joined the push for a Great Forest National Park to protect the Central Highlands and save the endangered Leadbeater's possum.

She was an inspiration to me and millions of others.

It was devastating to visit the spot where a young cyclist was killed in Kensington on Monday.

My heart goes out to this man's family.

People shouldn't have to risk their lives just to get around the city on their bike. We need safer bike lanes right across our city.

First the Federal Labor Government approved Australia’s biggest fossil fuel project in WA, now the Victorian Labor Government approves a huge floating gas ship in Victoria.

Labor simply does not give a stuff about climate change!

#NakbaDay marks 77yrs of Palestinian displacement. Over the last 18mths, more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed & Israel has declared its intent to permanently occupy Gaza.

Politics is a tough game. Nothing is ever certain. But I’m also so heartened by the fact that Australians overwhelmingly rejected Dutton and his Trump-style politics. That led to a nation-wide swing to Labor, which also affected the Greens vote.

It’s always a hard ask to win a lower house seat, when you have to beat the Labor and Liberal party vote combined.

But nationally the Greens have received their highest vote ever, with sole balance of power in the Senate.

In Melbourne, Adam received the highest vote. But a change in the boundaries, plus preferences from One Nation and the Liberals, meant he just missed out this time.

On a personal note, he’s been a big support to me and I’ll miss that enormously. I know our local community will miss having him as their MP as well. We were so privileged to have someone take our progressive, compassionate values to Canberra. We’ll miss him a lot.

He’s had a phenomenal impact in his time in Parliament. In 2010 his role in the Gillard minority government got a carbon price in Australia. The Greens got $10 billion invested in clean energy, because of Adam’s role. It was a step-change in climate action.

I’m so sad to lose Adam as our Federal MP for Melbourne. I know a lot of you will be feeling sad too. Like me, Adam’s primary reason for running for Parliament was because the major parties were not taking the climate crisis seriously.
