Wonderful evening at #BBCProms, first with #franticassembly exploring Shostakovich’s 5th symphony and the spaces between politics and art, and then with the astonishing @auroraorchestra.bsky.social playing it from memory!

Absolutely my favourite podcast. And now I’m going back to the beginning and listening again…

That’s a phenomenal improvement over 2023 - from 50% to 67% in one leap. Kudos to you.

As the mother of a daughter and the daughter of a mother I found I had to approach these episodes sideways so as not to be overwhelmed by them. It has slowed my progress through this sparkling, magisterial series. Cassandra is having to wait. And at the same time I can’t wait for Series 2…

I love, and am somehow unsurprised, that the kid is a cool classicist

Some years ago I was at a training day that invited us to consider our audience in terms of what kind of biscuit they would prefer to dunk in their tea. We didn’t know what to say, so they tsked and told us that the main drama audience was a woman in her mid 50s who preferred chocolate hobnobs.

Nice. I have recorded one image a day in One Day since 1 Jan. Now it’s an epic (but lightning) look back at the ups and downs of production, weather, family, a two day holiday in Cornwall, the final exit of a much loved cat, and much much more. Highly recommend image based journaling!

It’s a niche point of view but I have always loved his rogue novel of the Napoleonic wars The Trumpet Major best

I think this is the earliest I have ever seen primroses in flower.
