Giving my @leedsclassics.bsky.social first years Aeschylus instead of Herodotos, which on the one hand: amazing and on the other: completely amazing.

So many HE colleagues at risk of redundancy are struggling with limited support and understanding.

Universities may believe they are putting packages in place but the realities of so much risk, change and threat are way more significant than is currently appreciated.

October 5: Apologies for the bad news, but today is one of the 3 unluckiest days of the year in the Roman calendar. Definitely let people know that the underworld opens up to the living today (mundus patet) and so you just can’t leave your house, especially to sail (also on August 24 & November 8).

The tomb was designated the “Tomb of Cerberus” after the incredible mural of Hercules fighting the three-headed dog that guarded the underworld.

*And this is exactly what she’s done. She could have kept speaking at places like Davos and being championed by politicians, but she’s connected the environment, capitalism, white supremacy, imperialism (etc) and not shut up about it (rightly, I think), so they don’t want to platform her anymore.

It’s ALSO true that she’s an adult who knows exactly what’s she’s doing (almost as if that’s the point?), and - I suspect - part of the reason she’s kept actually standing up for her beliefs* relates to her Autistic sense of justice.

The infantilisation of Greta Thunberg is ableist. AND people not accounting for her Autism is reductive and disingenuous.

What happened to her and others from the flotilla is atrocious, clearly illegal, demonstrative of Israel as a terrorist state.
