Like the river, life moves forward — never pausing, never repeating, always finding its way.

A quiet bend of the Danube,
just south of Regensburg.

A calm, wide river stretches gently into the distance under a clear blue sky. This is the Danube, glistening in the sunlight, its surface reflecting the deep greens of the surrounding forest. Along the banks, dense trees frame the water, while in the foreground, branches with bright yellow leaves hint at the change of seasons. A small island of rocks and driftwood interrupts the river’s smooth flow, adding texture to the otherwise serene scene. The air feels quiet and still, just a perfect moment.

In moments like this, nature reminds us how small we truly are — and how fragile the illusion of control has always been.

A powerful, wide waterfall cascades with immense force over a rocky cliff - the Dettifoss in northern Iceland. In the foreground, a group of small human figures stands on a grassy ledge, dwarfed by the roaring wall of water in front of them. The black-and-white composition emphasizes the contrast between the textured flow of the falls and the stillness of the onlookers, highlighting both the raw power of nature and the humility of human presence.

Yesterday I returned from two weeks in Iceland, but before leaving, I squeezed in a drone flight for some abstract river shots. Here, runoff from mineral-rich soil mixes with river water to make a spectrum of greens, yellows, and oranges.

A powerful waterfall on a glacial river rushes through a cleft in the rock and is surrounded on either side by basalt columns. The long exposure of the image emphasizes movement in the water.

In addition to using it for aerial shots, the drone also comes in handy for subjects that are impossible to reach on foot. Here I was able to capture a head-on shot of this Snæfellsnes waterfall, just outside of the rock “gate” in front.

Under gloomy skies, a waterfall spills over a ledge and into a pool that is surrounded by rock walls. The water flow then continues through a “gate” in the rock in the foreground. There is moss and grass on the hills to either side.

The many small creeks that flow into Iceland’s Kolgrafafjörður help create some foreground interest when viewed from above.

Many small creeks flow through green fields to an Icelandic fjord. There are mountains in the background and the sky is filled with dark clouds that have taken on a blue tone.

With Storm Amy battering the northern part of the UK I thought I would go down to the coast to see some decent waves crashing into the cliffs at high tide. There is one place that I know of and that is #Dancingledge in the #Purbecks. #Stunday #EastCoastKin #Photography #Waves #Seascape
Dancing Ledge is a natural shelf of flat rock jutting out into the sea, which once made it a prime site for the quarrying of Purbeck stone – as well as an easy target for smugglers coming from the sea. Now, the sea ledge and its surrounding area is a beauty spot popular with walkers, climbers and wildlife enthusiasts.

A moody coastal scene from Reynisfjara in southern Iceland on a rainy day. The tide has receded, exposing wide stretches of dark volcanic sand that glisten faintly under the misty light. In the middle distance, a solitary rock formation rises from the shoreline, its rugged surface softened by the haze. Gentle waves curl along the beach, their white foam tracing delicate lines against the black sand. In the background, distant cliffs and headlands fade into the fog, giving the entire landscape a quiet, almost otherworldly atmosphere.

Thank you so much, Mamady! 😊 I couldn’t agree more - every season in Tyrol has its own kind of magic. Autumn just adds that extra golden touch! 🍂

The photo shows a beautiful autumn landscape in South Tyrol, near Lake Kaltern (Lago Caldaro). In the foreground, rows of apple trees stretch across the gently sloping valley, their leaves tinged with late-season green and hints of gold. Behind them, a patchwork of vineyards and farmland glows in warm shades of yellow, orange, and muted brown under the soft afternoon light. Scattered wineries dot the landscape, surrounded by trees that shimmer in shades of gold and amber. In the distance, a dark mountain range rises sharply, its rugged silhouette contrasting with the sunlit valley below. The sky above is clear and blue, with a delicate touch of haze where the sunlight meets the peaks - a calm, golden autumn day in the heart of the Alps.
