Trying to learn some v basic 3D game dev today, playing around with 2D sprites (placeholders from FFTA2) on low poly 3D with 2D pixel textures (from Crocotile which is VERY cool now I understand it a little better)

I'm reading Benvenuto Cellini's biography and this man, in the 1400s, had to bring a date to a dinner but didn't have a GF so dressed a hot twink up as a woman and took him instead; twink has no idea how to talk to women, panics and says "I'm pregnant", and everyone laughs it off??

The Medicis regained power a few years later, and as a symbol of Cosimo I's "victory" of order over republican chaos, he commissioned Cellini to sculpt Perseus standing over a defeated Medusa. The statue stands a few metres from Judith.

Thinking about this statue of Judith and Holofernes by Donatello, which was looted from the Medici's villa after they were run out of town and Florence became a Republic. It was placed in Piazza della Signoria as a symbol of justice against tyrants.

The foraging will continue until morale improves (grabbed 750g of sloe berries - not sure what to do with them! Sloe gin is traditional but my partner doesn't like gin and I don't drink much, hmm)

There's a few interesting ones not mentioned here like chain stiles, which are held together by tension and you push apart. Would be interesting to see how localised some of these styles of stile are

There are so many species of native wildflower that now fill the valley. As mentioned in my original post, in summer there's easily 30 or so species flowering at any one time. And it's getting better every year: comparing photos from when we moved here in '22 to today, it's so much more lush
