As a society, we decided long ago that men and women should compete separately in sports. If we had instead set up a system where people compete in different league levels purely on the basis of their capabilities irrespective of gender, the whole fraught issue of trans competitors would be moot.

The current wave of anti-intellectualism is a direct product of both egotism and arrogance on one side and a substandard and inconsistent public education system on the other. It is further fueled by the unwillingness to entertain nuance by the majority of people on any side.
