Birds, politics shouting, jewsky, snacks, music and other flights of fancy. Reporting live from Queens, NY. My profile pic is a one-eyed screech owl named Otis who lives at a sanctuary in NJ. He is very smol in real life.

David Mayer stan.
Ordered grocery delivery to make my life easier and paid extra for rainbow carrots. And got one single purple carrot. Boooo!

Love the borough-specific early voting stickers!

As a reminder, if you have not voted yet, they are preventing people from taking ballot pics. I saw a couple people get chastised today. Imho a good sign because people are excited.

While Colorado always has my heart, the Canadian Rockies are pretty spectacular. Not just saying that because I heard a northern pygmy owl today. Don't make me leave 😭.

Yeah a lot of women there voted for trump regardless. I feel bad for that 30% of people who are not cruel idiots but we have been telling the rest of the country not to trust trump for a decade now and they had 3 freaking chances. They would rather die than listen. Now we all have to suffer!

Other people passing by were not super enthused when I kept trying to show them this rad snake.

Daily dose of sunshine and sanity from a post-work birdwalk. A pine warbler enjoys the Forest Park feeder offerings.

Absolutely stunning peregrine falcon in Flushing Meadows Corona Park today. A frequent visitor to the area but it took a break from being the fastest bird on earth to perch for me. Didn't get a good enough shot of the leg band to get the details. Not bad for through the binocs phone camera pics.

American wigeon couple on a brunch date at Jamaica Bay wildlife refuge today. This was at west pond but if you want to find aaaaaall the mergansers they were at the east pond.

So many things that are wrong in such a small fluff piece! There have been previous xmas bird counts in FMCP; I have participated in them. Also that is a northern mockingbird in the picture, definitely not a catbird. I am begging these sites to get an editor and never trust AI for bird IDs.

You know what always cheers me up? A giant flock of grackles fucking up a leaf pile. Taken in Queens, NY this week.

*Not a time lapse, they are just chaotic.
