Who is demanding these headlines and articles? Is it a sizable enough population to warrant the fixation? I am quite sure most of us do not care about the rich flaunting their wealth and vanity, when their biggest contribution to society is acting in a movie (or far less).

Because, ultimately, if they rule against birthright citizenship in some manner, they're placing their judgment (regardless of their reasons) over the sentence, "All persons born ... in the United States ... are citizens..."

If they can wave that statement away, every right is negotiable.

Their job is to interpret the constitution, but they're not obligated to take up the case if they deem it settled law. How anyone (even they, in their unholy wisdom) can argue with such plain text as the quoted sentence of the fourteenth amendment is beyond me.

No matter what anyone says, there is zero ambiguity in the sentence, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

It is as settled as it could possibly be.
