Ha! My mom has recently discovered that she likes these (she’s in her 70s) after avoiding them her whole life.
Anyway she keeps telling me I have to eat them now. I can’t bring myself to try them - they are indeed too perfumy for me!
I’m sure once my palate improves I too will want them then

This was the randomest cameo/supporting actor role. Wang Xing Yue sandwiched this between his work on #storyofkunningpalace - as everyone’s favourite good guy too righteous for the girl, and #thedouble where everyone collectively loses their mind over how hot and evil he is.

Some of the web drama actors definitely deserve opportunities in “real” (?) cdrama but it seems hard to crossover.
I’m not sure whether labour conditions are decent in the chines tv industry but it’s bound to be worse for web dramas right?

Ohhhh, I remember this! They smushed it full of every trope under the sun and then some. I felt like they switched out genres 3 times but hey, I wasn’t bored.

But for me it’s not even military (but I get your point). Take debt for instance. Socially it’s taken for granted that someone if the family will take it on. On the other end, anyone who strikes it rich is expected to share with the family and community. You wouldn’t even need to ask

I’d push back on the honour of the family being in Islam - it’s actually counter to Islamic law and practice. This comes patriarchy and in South Asia for instance they pretend it’s religion not patriarchy that is the driving force (it makes it easier to shut down dissent if you can say God says so)

So I’m not sure if you meant in a purely legalistic sense, because it’s also about religious integration with culture (for instance Islam doesn’t have collective punishment as principle). But socially yes - benefits and costs aren’t solely borne by individuals.
