Opinions are my own.
The “Holly Trolley” at the National Capital Streetcar Museum is one of our favorite Christmas traditions. Highly recommend.

The kids helped with one of our favorite holiday traditions: Making my Mom’s Chex Mix and dill “Cracker Snacks.” Farm families like ours never had much money, but we always ate well.

Me: “I’m going to take the kids to the bookshop and not buy anything for myself. My TBR stack is overwhelming.”

Also me: “Yes Please.”

Went to the Iowa State vs. West Virginia game last fall and enjoyed Morgantown and the fans so much we returned this weekend just to cheer on WVU.

Wonderful time. Great town. Great food. Awesome people.

Spent Thanksgiving night at the firehouse. I’m thankful that I have this opportunity to serve.

I made the rolls, and the kids (with my help) made the pumpkin pie. Was a good Thanksgiving.

Every time I see “Liquid I.V.” on a store shelf I can’t help but believe that somewhere there must also also be a product called “Dry I.V.”

I grabbed the wrong large hardbound book from the shelf the other night, and the kids almost got to learn about the Battle of Hurtgen Forest instead of the Quidditch World Cup.

There are times when my commute to work absolutely does not suck.

The upside of getting furloughed for six weeks is that it provided me the opportunity to expand my reach as an EMS provider both jurisdictionally into Virginia and DC as well as clinically into the field of operational and event medicine. Time well spent.

I found the absolute best mug in the firehouse for that 5:30 AM cup of coffee.

FB memory of one of my favorite pictures. My son (then four years old) at Gettysburg.

My kids’ elementary school hosted furloughed parents for lunch today, and I got to eat with them both.

I had a ton of fun and got a good reminder that teachers work their butts off.

Real conversation with my semi-retired farmer dad:

Him: “How many bushels will fit the dimensions I gave you?”

Me: “About a 100, give or take.”

Him: “ok, how much does a bushel of bullshit weigh?”

Me: “50-75 lbs., depending on moisture content and roughage.”

We finished combining corn last night. With beans done last week, our harvest 2025 is complete.

Yields were good, but the market is poor. So it goes.

Last year on Halloween I went to work in full Ron Swanson mode, complete with mustache, bacon, woodworking tools, and grouchy attitude.

Absolutely no one noticed anything unique or special about me that day, and it’s the greatest work compliment I ever received.

No! My writing is bad enough. I don’t need AI to write poorly on my behalf.

I put the effort into my own crappy writing, dang it.

My good friend’s teenage son took the selfie I snapped on a weekend Buc-ee’s trip and made this. Perhaps the greatest AI image ever. I asked my family to use this as my obituary picture many years from now.

Took the bike to Breezewood, PA to ride the abandoned section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike and its tunnels. Good way to welcome the start of Spooky Season.
