Baby Steps and Sword of the Sea are both games where the core experience requires to cross landscapes with a character with a unique controller, but I can’t think of a bigger stretch in game design approach. It’s quite mesmerizing to alternate between both games.

I could be worried the delay of Cairn will make us release the same year as GTA 6. But no, I don't fear GTA 6 one second... but this game, that's another story.

I want to make jokes about Cairn's delay but truth is I'm very proud and relieved we are doing that. It's hard for us to delay. There's nothing more we want than to release the game. Also, money-wise, we don't have much buffer. But I would regret it all my life to spoil all these years of good work.

Probably the review sum up that's the most motivating for me to play the game. I'd play any 6/10 game that's reviewed like "Tons of defaults but oh man that one thing was brillant".

Having to destroy my companion cube in Portal really left me in shock, i thought about it for days and eventually built one in cardboard. Game design wise i am still stunned that they managed to make me feel that about an inanimate cube.

C'est la règle cousine de "il y a un problème ici, j'peux faire un quick quick fix pour masquer mais faudra s'en occuper bien rapidement" -> mieux vaut toujours laisser le problème et vivre avec plutôt que de le masquer salement.

I went to see the movie adaptation from Japanese indie game Exit 8. I really liked it!
It's weird, scary, with impressive camera direction and picture.
Game design-wise, I love that it's a game/movie based only on a toddler's game (7 differences) (cc @randotwino.bsky.social)

Upside: I finished Ninja Gaiden Ragebound!
I absolutely loved it. It's a genuine 90's game arcade experience, from the gameplay to the writing, music, mood (but with modern iii quality).

Ridge Racer is my favorite racing game ever (with Wipeout 2097).
My personal favorite is Ridge Racer Revolution, where drifting is really encouraged.

It's very unique and has so much soul.

Despite the subject matter of this game being intimidating the actual game itself is written very gently.

This game helped me understand myself, the world, and others better after playing it.

Actually I think that arbitrary factor is what makes the difference between successful and unsuccessful game designers (and not how smarter they are).
If you're lucky enough to naturally have a big overlap between what you'd want and what the market wants, it's easy.
(I know someone like that...)
