Also, based on what I've heard from journalists/editors, many incumbents have dedicated editors trying to wash incumbent's hands by choosing rosey-tinted sources, etc. This is specially hard now that people are editing open platforms less than they were a decade ago.

Decentralizing it was already solved years ago. What the open knowledge movement needs is more contributors. Keep editing.
