I do happen to have a legitimate copy of C99 on hand and all I see is UB on src/dst overlap :(

is this memcpy-specific? I didn't find anything about memcpy being special in this way in the C99 standard, and generally you can pass null pointers around

(I mean true stride loads are not much RISCy. It's almost a memcpy instruction)

That's 32 loads, right? How does it compare to just doing those 32 loads? I guess it would be wild to really get over 1ms per cache miss
