The guy to the right of the teacher had it all planned so well...sandals with socks, tight pants, dark glare, but Alan just had to take all the attention

I remember the first direct question my kid asked me, beyond things like 'WHAT.' She held up a smushed grain of rice from the floor and said "What is this?" I answered and then went wait what did you just do?

Hasn't stopped since, and we're nearly a decade past that moment ;)

Somehow it feels appropriate to log on and find this out from your feed, esp given that we just showed our kid Bill and Ted And I grumbled about not getting to see Godot. Strange things truly are afoot.

Be careful, though you don't need me to tell you that. We must be in a similar part of the world, and Tuesday evening carpool was...interesting.

When we got a second cat because our solo cat was lonely (he had been one of a pair and was very social), he was thrilled--until she sat on or near us. Then we got whacked. About the only time he was aggressive when not in a medical context. SHE was fine. WE were not!

Anyway, my theory that the majority of the country needs serious, non authoritarian, reparenting is not shaken by any of this 🤦‍♀️

And it makes it so clear why other stable and trustworthy adults are crucial--certain things I can't say just because I'm the parent, but another adult can take a script I hand them and poof. Results!

Completely age appropriate. And I'm understanding so quickly how so many parents either can't or won't level up with it--it's not the same as toddler suicide watch. They need us less frequently, but it's so much more intensive when they do

I'm seeing that from the adult side of things now (living with it, even!) and yeah. We are needed SO much now as parents, but in a completely different way, and it's complex and demanding and so important
