I once made homemade hummus for my northern Wisconsin white parents and purposefully reduced the fresh garlic to one-fourth of my usual amount, and upon trying it my mom said, “Oooh yikes, that’s too spicy!”

The people I have hired for office jobs who spent a decade as servers or barista first are infinitely easier to work with than anyone else I’ve hired. They can work effectively with virtually anyone and they do not traffic in bullshit.

18 years ago the first lesson I learned in community development finance was that to fix a host of ills in Chicago we wanted more housing density and after that we wanted more housing density and then more commercial/retail and housing density and then maybe some community facility space.

And you can get a blank white cake and then just put whichever plastic characters your child is currently obsessed with on top! My kids are always thrilled and it tastes perfect.
