Nice to see this statement. I've heard that the cancellation of all these clean energy projects has caused absolute chaos among the unions, which have been preparing for specific projects, assigning experienced workers to them, and opening new jobs to backfill these moves— all now completely shot.

California passed a huge climate package last month, w/ a big effort to weave in affordability. It's wonky but important stuff, and I broke it all down for you:
- Cap & invest extension / rebrand
- transmission accelerator
- permission to join a Western RTO!

You are stating the name of California's grid operator out loud. Do you say CAISO? or CAL-ISO?

Scoop: CarbonCapture Inc. has moved its 2,000-ton direct air capture project from the US to Canada, compelled by shifting political winds and a better policy environment in the north, CEO Adrian Corless told me:

Carbon Capture Startup Moves Project to Canada From US
The startup building it moved the project north due to better incentives and what it views as a more stable regulatory environment.

The DOE's estimate of $7.5 billion is also questionable. Lots of the awardees have spent some of their money. It’s unclear whether that number is the total awarded or the remained. Five of the listed projects, worth nearly $900 million, were already announced as terminated in May.

Very relevant to my recent reporting on the Greenhouse Gas Protocol's overhaul of its rules for corporate emissions accounting:

Republican AGs are now accusing Big Tech of greenwashing by buying unbundled RECs.

Here I also explained specifically why a fusion breakthrough doesn’t fix climate change: tl;dr: you still have to finance, permit & build tons of reactors (to say nothing of still needing to clean up fertilizer, airlines, cattle burps & more).
Sorry, AI won’t “fix” climate change
OpenAI’s Sam Altman claims AI will deliver an "Intelligence Age," but tech breakthroughs alone can't solve global warming.
