Nice to see this statement. I've heard that the cancellation of all these clean energy projects has caused absolute chaos among the unions, which have been preparing for specific projects, assigning experienced workers to them, and opening new jobs to backfill these moves— all now completely shot.

The DOE's estimate of $7.5 billion is also questionable. Lots of the awardees have spent some of their money. It’s unclear whether that number is the total awarded or the remained. Five of the listed projects, worth nearly $900 million, were already announced as terminated in May.

Here I also explained specifically why a fusion breakthrough doesn’t fix climate change: tl;dr: you still have to finance, permit & build tons of reactors (to say nothing of still needing to clean up fertilizer, airlines, cattle burps & more).
