Government must acknowledge that racial profiling in policing does occur, and progress Action 1.5 of the National Action Plan Against Racism, "identify and eliminate any policing practices that target specific groups experiencing racism, including through racial or ethnic profiling".

The report from @inarireland.bsky.social and @lucymichael.bsky.social "Experiences of Policing and Brazilians and People of African Descent in Ireland" also provides powerful testimony about experiences of harmful and racist treatment.

There is a plethora of lived experience and research available which documents such experiences, including ICCL's report with the Irish Network Against Racism (INAR), "Policing and Racial Discrimination in Ireland: A Community and Rights Perspective".

Shockingly, in the government viewpoint section, it states that "racial profiling is not a feature of policing in Ireland". This continues the institutional denial of racial profiling and dismisses the lived experiences of those who routinely experience discriminatory treatment.
