the new kent/des moines strain has an elevator and a long ramp. maybe we need ramps on all new light rail stations where the platform is above street level given how frequently elevators are out of service.

i’m on light rail back from seattle to federal way, but they just announced on board that *both* elevators are out of service at the star lake station. they can’t keep the station wheelchair accessible even for seven hours. is this what we’ve waited 13 years for?

despite sooner than expected (but not entirely surprising) breakdown of an elevator to the platform, i’m liking the new light rail stations in federal way, star lake, and kent/des moines (highline college). only 36 minutes from federal way to columbia city station that i’m heading to now.

…and the very first broken elevator at the federal way downtown light rail station, within less than an hour since the very first train departed. this is what sound transit’s link light rail is known for.

btw it's not a bad bill. it just makes the position of county coronors appointed rather than elected, which i generally agree with, even though it comes from a republican legislator whose mental stability is questioned by members of both parties. washingtonstatestandard.com/2025/04/25/o...
