It feels like the possibility never even entered her mind that sometimes medical complications occur and are nobody's fault -- if something goes wrong, there must always be someone I can sue. The extent to which she viewed her surrogate as a dehumanized incubator was so upsetting to read.

Yup! Asking someone how they spent their weekend or how their day is going is not just "pointless small talk" it's giving them an opportunity to offer up information about themselves! Asking how someone's day is going is not bad conversation skills, but just answering "it's good" is.

WHY do some people act as though the only way to get to know someone is to ask a complete stranger all their deepest hopes and fears? You can say "what did you do this weekend?" and they say "I went hiking" and you say "I love hiking! do you do a lot of it?" and BAM you're getting to know each other

I run errands after the gym all the time. It's fine. I don't think someone potentially catching a whiff of my sweat counts as a serious harm to society.

it is scary because tons of people use chatgpt as a source of information, even though it regularly produces false info. and even though it's not conscious or thinking, many people would read its "apologies" as sincerity and be likely to further trust it as reliable
