At this 👆 age we need our Mums and Dads still, we have no idea what lies in our path and we haven't handled the most *basic* of life's challenges yet. We are vulnerable at 14-15 - and still children.

I will add that not much more than 6 months later I was thrust into the world and had to live independent of my parents. Just because you are forced early into circumstances that are adult, doesn't mean you are anything but still a CHILD.

There's that old half-joke/bitter truth that if you pitched the concept of a library today it would be chased out by centrists and the GOP as wasteful socialism. Similarly if you try to explain any politics stuff of government working under FDR or LBJ you sound naive.
