I was looking for the answer to a question I had about a programming thing, so I Googled it.

The answer I needed turned out to be in a post I wrote nearly 20 years ago. (This happens a lot, actually...)

And it turns out I made my account on that platform *exactly* 20 years ago today. Wild.

ICE says it isn't going to break the law to imprison a man that embarrassed them (this time) until a court order banning it is lifted.

I got to play Words On Stream with some smarties. We beat my previous best of 27 by 10 extra levels!

🙄 GitHub is going to charge per-minute fees for self-hosted GitHub Actions runners. Which also means they are charging you per minute if you use another company to host your runners.

Microsoft slowly ruins everything they acquire. Do you remember pre-acquisition GitHub? I miss it.

Yes, this is obviously a priority issue. I couldn't imagine anything more important to address right now.

I knew they had a pattern and a purpose, but it never clicked. I'm sure I already learned this as a kid, but I didn't remember it.

I was playing Luck Be A Landlord and (currently) have a score of 274,730,108,038,108,151,808 and wanted to know how to say it. Rounded, it's 275 quintillion. 😲

I soloed RV There Yet. It was worth it.

It was my first run; I've never played multiplayer, yet.

"Very expensive enterprise software is the best software in the world" said by literally nobody (that wasn't trying to sell it).

The project is at www.home-assistant.io and it's a *beautiful* and easy to use website. Heck, try out their little demo right there on their home page (no really, try it!)

Official project Bluesky account is @home-assistant.io

If you think that's a lot of devices for a single Raspberry Pi to handle, it's handling 5,123 separate entities, which many are constantly updating their status. The amount of data this system can process concurrently is impressive, and the data in my house is intense, and it goes unnoticed /cont'd

I know that I'm a special case (I really like to use my tools), but right now my Home Assistant running on a little Raspberry Pi 5 is managing 1,312 devices on my house network, via WiFi, Zigbee, and Z-Wave, as well as interfacing with cloud services, such as LG and Samsung. /cont'd

Oh, and that van? Check out this graph showing how much fuel is in it, as a line graph. You can clearly see when it was refueled as a historical record. You can go back to review any data points easily. You cannot optimize what you cannot measure, and this system measures SO MUCH. /cont'd

Are you a data nerd, or you want to automate things when you arrive at home, with your Bouncie-connected vehicle? (it reports vehicle health, mileage, location, speed, etc) Home Assistant can use that Bouncie data to turn on lights when you enter the neighborhood, perhaps start the kettle... /cont'd

I don't appreciate being reminded about the rapid passing of time...

This screenshot (from the YouTube live stream of Home Assistant 2025.5 Release Party) feels applicable today.

I want it to be real, but sadly Gemini's mark in the corner says otherwise.
