the transmission paired to all of these regardless of engine was a 5 speed version of the Allison B400R. for the orders placed for 2000 and 2001 d40lf's, they had the cummins isc. though they later got cummins isl's in the early 2010's because the isc's were worn out. (2/2)

this particular fishbowl is a 35 foot model with a 6V71N and an Allison VS2-6 (an upgrade from the VH-9 it would've had originally!) the VH-9 was a 1 speed with an overdrive second, this VS2-6 was a two speed with an overdrive third gear.

the last of the 40 foot fishbowls offered the 6V92TA (a 9 litre turbo V6 as a lower emissions option in lieu of the V8) this engine made roughly the same amount of power as the 9.3 litre V8 (the aforementioned 8V71N) (5/6)

the 40 foot long buses was where things got interesting. you have your 6V71 or 6V71N, with a manual or automatic as per usual, but starting in 1968 they offered the 8V71N as an option, automatic only (urban variants), but if you opted for a suburban version, you could get a manual with the V8. 35 foot long buses you could get with the very venerable and well known 2 stroke detroit diesel v6. that engine being the 6V71 or 6V71N. with a choice between some sort of allison automatic transmission or an unsynchronized manual transmission. (3/?)
