Sadly, it appears tied to the region where you first created your account. A VPN or being out of the U.S. won’t do it. I lost my account too despite having a Canadian phone and SIM card, because I created my account when I still lived in California.

I saw this when I saw the film and realized I may be more bi than I previously thought.

Our maintenance man was inspecting smoke detectors around the building, and asked me to find an office number I had never heard of because I have a master key. I wandered over to where it should have been, and found a door inside a supply closet that lead to this office.
