After all, performing should be treated with the same value as 3 8 hour bar shifts. It is essential work at the festival. Without performers, what would it be? I’d encourage people to visit the link above & have a read.

You need to be financially able to splash out on it, technically savvy & experienced in acquiring tickets to hugely in-demand events or know the right people who can get you access. For many acts, the first time they attend will be to perform. At the very least, they deserve a god damn ticket.

I think there is a huge lack of awareness inside the bubble of people who have been involved and attending for many decades about the privilege it has become over the years to do so.

No caveats, no “oh but it’s a special case and it’s been like this for years and it’s worth it and if you don’t like it don’t go”. Which disabled artist can endure this? Maybe some, but for a huge amount this is either impossible or would damage their bodies in the process. Why should they?

Because there is so much love for Glastonbury as a British institution which raises a lot for charity and is a cherished part of many lives, there is a reluctance to criticise. But to put it bluntly, no one should have to to work 3 8-hour shifts in exchange for access to play for free.
