I mean just look at how expressive the faces he draws are. It genuinely stuns me, and I am very often taken aback. I stay on some panels really analyzing what expression Shuzo tries to convey.

It is quite a convoluted story, but it touches on teenage relationships, questions around gender/sexuality, performativity in our society, and features a trans/nb (?) character. Overall, I loved this manga, and I hope to be able to buy the Japanese version someday.

Okaeri Alice is THE manga that got me back into avidly reading manga. Written by none other than Oshimi Shuzo (a mangaka who absolutely have nooooo confusion around his gender whatsoever /s).

I think the most poignant panel is the last one when Yuni finally picks Nanase over her, and fuuko réalisés that she lost the only thing she had… and she has nobody else to blame but herself.

She’s a master manipulator as she manipulated Yuni, so that she will depend on her for the affection she wants so badly. I feel like all the characters are fucked up - fuuko especially - and they all share the blame for this clusterfuck
