After 1st grade, these friends very matter-of-factly told me they didn't want to be friends with me anymore and just left. And yknow what, I actually appreciated how up front they were about it

These same friends also argued with me over the color of soy sauce. My 6 year old brain didn't have the vocabulary to explain as a CHINESE CHILD WHO ATE SOY SAUCE EVERY DAY, I was a better primary source than "I saw it on a TV show"

When I was in elementary school, I won a coloring contest at school and got a nerds rope as a prize. And then my friends at the time literally told me it was unfair that I got candy and they didn't

Taking a sculpting class really helped my understanding of the body!

It's one thing to know the muscles / accurate proportions, it's another to fight a lump of clay into those shapes, crying late at night over why your arms aren't symmetrical, and cursing God for making humans shaped so weird

These days, I prefer to get sketchbooks from artist alleys 😆 the covers are always cute, and I trust artists to be more picky about paper quality. The paper works well with my fountain pen ink!

When I was a young artist, I somehow got it into my head that moleskin books were the height of luxury for artists. But when I actually used one, it was terrible 😂

Could be I didn't pay attention to the paper type, but I never used them again
