5️⃣ The UK became the largest oil & gas producer to ban new exploration.

The policy bans onshore & offshore oil & gas exploration licences—however, an exception for production on or near to existing fields must be tightly defined to prevent industry over-exploiting tiebacks as a loophole.

India’s clean energy subsidies increased by 31% in FY 2024 to nearly USD 3.9 billion.

In the same period, fossil fuel subsidies declined by 12%, the sharpest drop since the pandemic.

Canada has proposed a new pipeline—yet with oil demand set to decline, projects face serious economic risks.

Oil supply is expected to exceed demand by 4mn bpd in 2026. Providing subsidies risks building uneconomic projects at the expense of public 💰.

The Trans Mountain Pipeline:
