Where will future cities be located?

Check our our recent paper👇 Geomorphology and climate played a role in the past, with relevant implications for the future resilience of global urban systems.

📢PAPER ALERT - How do cities expand in time? Together with @enricobertuzzo.bsky.social and @giuliagrandi.bsky.social we developed a spatially explicit model, describing observed urban expansion dynamics in NE China (gif by @giuliagrandi.bsky.social)

I guess, of all, you did not expect to get experimental setup tips from me 😅
Everything is fine here, thank you, hope you as well. I see you changed institution.

Hi Amber!
I do have one MX water level plus conductivity logger (the one with the non-submergible logger). So far I have use it only as a portable probe (I have not deployed it in the field yet) and it worked smoothly. Also on the pros list, you can replace batteries by yourself.

In addition to the classical estimates of stream metabolism (GPP and ER), the model infers also the metabolic O-C stoichiometry and the lateral fluxes of DIC, thus partitioning the sources of CO2 outgassing between internal and external.

Looking the get the most out of your stream CO2 data?

Check out the coupled O2-CO2 model developed by Jake Diamond and me, out today in JGRB!

The model extends the single-station O2 model by coupling DIC mass balance and carbonate buffering.

I make my debut in bluesky for promoting the latest chapter of
@giuliagrandi.bsky.social dissertation, now published in WRR, where we look at how transit time affects concentration and quality of DOC in the streamflow.👇
giuliagrandi.bsky.social
The time that water spends to travel across the catchment isn’t just a driver of DOC concentration, but it also shapes its quality and reactivity in a low-order alpine stream.
