I'm alive by the grace of my surroundings. I'm alive because I live very frugally in a wealthy country. I know how to do one absurdly specific thing and little else. Through monumental effort, I have reached a level of functioning that most people ten years younger than me achieve effortlessly.

I don't exclude porn from the umbrella of art. Porn is still art, but it's art that is primarily designed to arouse, to create a comfortable illusion. The Van Gogh drawing is brutal in comparison. That's one reason why I mentioned Bacon in the replies.

The Van Gogh drawing is sparse and unembellished. It shows an ugliness inherent in the whole thing. Porn is more "interested" in escalating and sanitizing. I'm just wondering if the starkness of this drawing could somehow be put back into porn and if it would still be porn at that point.
