Thanks to my raid leader @dapandabanda.bsky.social for this lovely drawing of my WoL!!
envinyon.bsky.social
oh yeah I saw a screenshot of this on one of the ffxiv subreddits
envinyon.bsky.social
there's a robot character that has zero faith because they can't conceptualize the idea of a god
envinyon.bsky.social
I do a little "kyahaha" type laugh whenever I talk about ffxvi
envinyon.bsky.social
even though FFXVI doesn't actually have much juggling, can we call it juggleslop
envinyon.bsky.social
yeah like I've actually lost friends over this, they'd just entirely 180 their own opinions because someone likes or doesn't like a thing and is mildly annoying about it

I just don't get it
envinyon.bsky.social
I get that people that say its the grand return of RPGs are annoying but I'd like it if there can be discussion about the game that doesn't start with "this group says ____ "

the only thing I gotta fault the 7 Remakes for is that "high level" play in Rebirth is....questionable

diverse enough kits to provide numerous ways of approaching combat

enemy gimmicks that require specific answers, but not so specific that you have to play in an extremely rigid way
envinyon.bsky.social
Kingdom Hearts really hits an incredible balance between player kit and strong enemy design and I think the only thing that competes with it in the modern landscape is FF7R
envinyon.bsky.social
he looks so studious
envinyon.bsky.social
is

that game a beat em up
envinyon.bsky.social
It's like Sonic in that way, where people kinda confuse "how the game is for most people" and "how the game is when you've played it for 400 hours"

doing long combos in DMC is the reward for performing at a high level, actually trying to do donguri stuff usually just gets you killed unless you know precisely what you're doing
envinyon.bsky.social
more people also need to play bump combat Ys games and realize the genuine decision making in an action game that has no inputs aside from movement, and how there's even like depth and more skill expression than you'd think
envinyon.bsky.social
DMC being as influential as it is made people think that action games = doing really long combos

which is weird cuz you're really not doing that in DMC that much
envinyon.bsky.social
this is all to say that we need to go back to beat em ups where movesets were simple and there was a large focus on crowd control
envinyon.bsky.social
yeah I thought it was fine

didn't blow me away or anything, but I do not get the hate at all

also we got some added story for Titania/Feo Ul so ultimately its pretty 10/10 content
envinyon.bsky.social
I also can't overstate how some of the environments being outdoors makes this SO much more appealing
envinyon.bsky.social
Its also very obviously designed to be completed solo. I think world first solo happened on black mage? Which is crazy since it has no self-sustain of any kind.

But enemy health isn't so much that tanks will feel like a slog to play, which was a huge issue with orthos
envinyon.bsky.social
I really dig how its balanced so far, its definitely easier than orthos, and maybe easier than HoH

but the reason its easier is you get more buffs that are just fun to use

there's no like instant kill bullshit (yet), its just "oh I actually have to do something"
